je suis LA(-BAS)

je suis LA(-BAS) is a new performance event curated by Mischief La-Bas as part of ‘The Only Way is Ethics‘ Festival. Held at Stereo, Glasgow on December 3rd 2015, it will offer a platform and support to artistic practice and development. Mischief La-Bas was founded at The Arches in 1991 with a paid 2 year residency that allowed them the unique opportunity to develop, experiment and perform every week. As acknowledgement of that support, Mischief La-Bas would like to offer the opportunity to fellow artists and practitioners to present new work or develop existing work in an evening of performance with a Mischief-inspired after-party.

The Only Way is Ethics is an annual 8-day ethical festival, which will take place for the first time across Glasgow from 29 November to 6 December 2015. It will culminate in a 2-day Vegfest Scotland event at the SECC. The festival has a firmly ‘green’ perspective and a strong focus on social responsibility, social inclusion and animal rights. The aim is to generate a city-wide conversation, by asking the question, ‘How can ethical thinking make Glasgow a better place for all?’

The festival is open to all those who want to see a more ethical world, and is a forum where different points of view are welcomed and respected. Genuine progress can be made through open- minded, positive engagement between all sections of society. The festival provides a space for that to happen.

We would like to invite submissions from performers, writers, musicians, poets and theatre makers to make new work or develop existing work. The only stipulation is that the performance has an ethical, social or political emphasis that fits into The Only Way is Ethics ethos (please see their website) and should be 5 – 50 minutes long (no longer than 50 minutes). The performance will take place in Stereo in the downstairs staging area. Although we expect the work to be presented on stage, we would also be interested in any work that could potentially be installed upstairs in the bar area or outside in Renfield Lane. You can download the Application Form and Stereo's Technical Specification using the links  on the right.
